The Nintendo Switch is more than six years old, and shows no signs of slowing down. Part of the console’s appeal is its unique home-and-away design that lets you play your favorite games on a big-screen when docked or in handheld mode when you're out and about. The portable console has surpassed the PlayStation 4 and GameBoy to become the third best-selling console of all time with over 122.55 units sold.

Here’s our current recommendations including 5 of our hand picked favourite games for anyone who has just recently bought a Switch and wants to know what to play.

1. Super Mario 3D World +Bowser's Fury

Our first choice presents you with a whole host of Mario fun in one go. Super Mario 3D World being the first part of the package, offering a range of inventive platforming levels that you can playthrough on your own or with up to three friends. We also had to mention another favourite, compact new adventure that is Bowser's Fury. Delivering a brand-new story to explore and play through as you fight alongside Bowser Jr. to takedown Fury Bowser. It takes lots of elements from Super Mario 3D World too, so it's just as loveable and fun. These two sit perfectly together and are quite the package to get you started on your Switch journey.

2. Minecraft

Yes you’ve probably played this one before, but Minecrafton Switch means an ultra-portable and absolutely delightful experience. You can sit down with a friend to play together, which is very simple to set up or you can play online if you're not eager to go exploring alone. You can also try out its mini-games. There are a wide range of achievements makes for some great directed playing as they give you something to aim for. It's an exercise in discovery and ambition, and so much fun. We thought Minecraft is definitely worthy of its spot on our best Switch games list

3. Animal Crossing: New Horizons

As we’ve mentioned many times before, we’re big lovers of Animal Crossing so it had to sit in our list.No game defines the COVID-19 lockdowns better than Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nintendo’s adorable life simulator is a fun and easy-going game to play, especially on the Switch. Create your very own personalised island and find a community, grow plants, chase bees, and make friends. It offers relaxation and freedom and great for all ages.

4.  The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

An absolute un-missable mention Nintendo Switch game is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Offering an exciting and bold sense of freedom and scale in the palm of your hand. This game is considered one of the best games of all time, telling a memorable story, as you glide, cook, and battle your way across some beautiful scenery. The game has reinvigorated The Legend of Zelda, and on the Switch it offers a fantastic experience that you can take with you anywhere, transporting you to another world.
