1 Month Until Dead Island 2

We're officially only a month out from the release of the longggg awaited Dead Island 2 and after being announced for the first time all the way back in 2014 fans of the original are dying to get their hands on this game. With an original release date in February 2023 news broke of a delay and a new release date of April 2023 meaning fans have even longer to wait, but a late game is always better than a buggy game.

First things first, take a look at the 13 minute long extended game play trailer.

Explore Hell-A

Take on the city of Los Angeles and its recently un-dead residents after the city gets put into quarantine and the military downs their weapons and retreats leaving only you to save the day. Your journey will take you across iconic areas of the City of Angels with locations varying from the verdant suburbia of Beverly Hills down to the quirky promenade of Venice Beach, all with their own unique environments and obstacles along the way. As we saw in the extended gameplay trailer players can use their surrounding to their advantage - see a puddle with an electrical wire flailing around nearby and a horde of zombies the other side? Sounds like a sizzling opportunity.

Brutal Melee Sandbox

Clearly a huge aspect of the game is the combat style and effects, gore is the word of the day with Dead Island 2 with an arsenal of weapons equipped to deal whatever damage you can imagine - "whether you're slicing, smashing, burning or ripping" the devs are confident you're going to find a weapon and style that suits you.

Mentioned in the extended trailer the game implements a "dismemberment technology called Flesh" this gives the game its iconic look and feel of pure gore and bloodiness but it also offers realism in the way the zombies are impacted by attacks depending on the weapon of choice. Use your katana to swipe at a zombies arm - just watch that baby slice right off, using a hammer - watch their heads go splat, not only does this added realism make the game more fun it also gives the player a strategic advantage over their foe.

Zombie Infestation

Variety is the spice of life and just because they're zombies doesn't mean they all have to look the same - this fictional LA is crawling with zombies that can be lovingly described as "mutated wretches" and Dead Island 2 is packed with dozens of distinct types, all with their own mutations and attacks with hundreds of visual LA-themed variants to combat.

Become the Ultimate Zombie Slayer

Choose from 6 characters to battle through the undead of LA, all with their own unique personalities and dialogue and equipped with fully customisable abilities using the brand new skill system. Meet your roster of characters Jacob, Amy, Ryan, Dani, Bruno and Carla.

Play Solo or Co-Op

Take on the zombies alone or in co-op mode with up to 3 friends - with plenty of main missions and side quests to flesh out the story and plenty of weapons to unlock it's unlikely you'll get bored of this game for a damn long time.
